I would like to share a comment with the dr. I experienced the separate therapist scenario and you are correct. the outcome is most certain to be divorce as was mine. Also in response to Alice. I read the book the verbally abusive relationship and although some people are prone to abuse, the author, in my opinion does not share or give any inspiration as does Susan. The author empowers women who need validation to end a relationship without having to do any work or communicate with there partner how verbal abuse may be affecting them. It’s an incurable disease according to the author, and a very easy way out of a relationship, as well as a way to exonerate oneself from any and or even partial responsibility for divorce. I guess what’s most important is verbal abuse is prevalent and can do serious harm to ones self esteem. it’s not a death sentence and once it’s brought to light, talked about and understood, can make a relationship stronger. If two people want to be together! Most times once a diagnosis is reached by an unhappy spouse, it’s over and this book, as I said before, is the validation needed because once you determine you have been verbally abused your free to go and take no responsibility as the Author points out it’s the fault of the abuser who has a death sentence and there fore you must get away.
I don’t know. We have a baby together but I hurt him really bad. He says he needs time to figure out what he wants. He says he thinks of me sometimes and misses home sometimes but I don’t give him time to actually miss me because I bother him everyday. He doesn’t trust me at all. But he was so so inlove with me. He says he doesn’t know if he loves me. Then when I say how could he not love me he says “I never said that” what?! I’m so confused ?
Hi, my boyfriend of almost 1 year broke up with me just a week ago. It was very hard for both of us, as I love him with all my heart and he seemed genuinely upset about it too. we didn’t have a fight or anything, he just said he thinks i love him more than he loves me and isn’t sure if this is what he wants. when we left the place where we broke up, we were both very sad. yesterday i bumped into him, and he was very nice to me, we even chatted for a while about our school work. he just seemed very casual, relaxed and happy to see me. i plan on not contacting him for a while, but is this relationship already a lost cause if he seems all casual and treating me as a friend only a week after he left me? does this show that he actually never really cared enough about me?
Thank you for your reply, he has not blocked me just deleted me, I got the impression that it was out of anger but I’m not sure. He has not blocked my phone number so should I message when NC is over?
I have a big gigantic crush and he used to like me and then my BEST friend told everyone in my class that I have a crush on him and everyone told him and now he hates me… no body can replace him I have nothing to do!!! can any of you help???
“You were right too about how much I coddled my children’s mother. The reality is that I was afraid of her. Just like when we were married I was always trying to keep her from getting mad at me. When I was depressed I had no spine for anything. That era is over as well. Now when she calls, I get the facts of who to pick up when and where, and that’s it.”

In our therapy sessions Peter recalled that in his family expressions of anger were not allowed. As a young boy with no one who would listen when he felt negative feelings, Peter often felt abandoned.
Me and my ex were together for 4 years and broke up almost 2 months ago , because we were having too many arguments because of which he’s hurt and he says there’s no future because we don’t get along that well, and argue a lot . So he decided to break up, I tried to make an effort but he’s not ready , he’s blocked and deleted me from everywhere . I did act pushy and needy , but it’s been 10-12 days since I haven’t contacted him , do you think there’s a chance that he’ll come back ?
My ex made me do things am not suposed to do because i could not stand is new behaviour and act towards me anymore and we lost trust for each other dor i still love him but i was the one who decide the breakup cos i had enough of it already nw he is far from me we don’t usually see on the road is there a chance of getting him back and making him beg me to come back
Are you up to date with the recent trends in dating? Do you still prefer the old-school techniques instead? What are some of the similarities and disparities in dating from different parts of the world? We’re not looking for any long term commitment, mind you.
My ex and i got back together a week ago. It was very rough. I didnt give him enough space and he said he didnt feel comfortable seeing me after i asked if i could. This was the second time i asked. The first was to just make ammends and be friends. And it was the hardest i could do but i knew id see him at an event we were both going to and i didnt want it to be awkward. He avoided me every which way at this event even purposefully walking away with his friends in front of me. Hurting me very much. I messaged him thay day explaining im sorry if i hurt you in anyway but when i said i want to be friends i didnt mean it its too hard and i still miss everything. After a week after this horrible event i messaged him to see me. Explaining i know i pushed you away but i would rly appreciate it. He replied saying sorry but we do not need a 3 part break up and last time i saw you i didnt hear you talking but your friend..im sorry i dnt feel comfortbale seeing you again. I then blew up his phone with messages saying im me im not my friend and i wrote a letter to him spilling my whole heart (he knows i write stuff out when i rly mean something) i just wanted to give him that letter and move on. I ended up going to his house announced that same day…:/..i know it was dumb. I had to just read it tho and move on. He opened the door i read it to him and he held my hand and let me in. We sat on his balcony for 6 hrs talking. He told me he isnt going to kick me out and he wants me to stay but that nothing is going to change. Later on we talked and talked and i told him i think its time for me to leave i got up but he pulled me to him and said he rly needs someone right now too. By some miracle he said we can make this work. We kissed and he said he has missed me so much and all these nice things…only to ask me to comeover 2 days later and break up with me..again. i was by then heartbroken. He said he messed up and isnt a good person that he was worried about me and he didnt know what to do and that i stressed him out. I said im sorry and couldnt move for a little. I cried a little having a near panic attack. He wouldnt even look at me. I left. Devastated. I wrote him a mean text saying you used me and dony ever do this to any girl u love ever again bye. Only regretting it after and 2 days later sending a message saying I do not beileve you used me…i know you loved me. I wish i wouldve said that i know you need to focus on yourself and your needs and same for me. I havent messaged him since. I didnt apologize i didnt blame but i didnt want my last word for him to think what i rly didnt mean. I know i am on and off and i promise i am not bipolar or a stalker…i was so hurt i let my emotions take over. I dnt expect him to reply. And i dnt want him too. I want to move on so badly…i am now now not contacting him. Period. I know i was alot too much and pushed him away even more…but will he ever…ever talk to me again?
Think of it this way, if you do this set of messages correctly then you have a good chance of getting your ex to feel the same feelings you are feeling and they will start to remember how great your times together were.
It’s important to have a plan to follow, because after a breakup you are hurt, emotionally drained and most of all, confused. And during this state of confusion, you are bound to make a lot of mistakes that will actually hurt your chances of getting back together.
“I can see now,” Peter explained to her, “that in my depression about work I became totally self-centered. I withdrew from you, so no wonder you felt angry and distanced from me. As both of us withdrew from each other we lost our sexual connection. I felt desparate for attention. Then I took the ultimate wrong turn by seeking sexual attention from an infidelity. Big mistake! I’m so glad that now I’m looking for a job that will be a better fit for me. I think I’ve found one, and I’m thrilled at the prospect.”
Note: Although the quiz uses an advanced algorithm based on relationship science and academic research to calculate the score, it is not 100% accurate. However, the results should prove to be helpful and guide you further through what you should do next.
Having a plan gives you a sense of direction and removes all the confusion. A plan will give you something to look forward to when you are feeling down and unsure about yourself. A plan will give you hope. This article is that plan.
In this case it really is the classic line “it’s not you, it’s me.” This one can be a little harder to come back from but trust me it can be done if you are smart about how you approach the situation.
I had to end relationship up with my girlfriend (5 years living together) due the fact she found another man to entertain her and she was not willing to make the decision: me or other guy. I tried this no contact rule and she keeps calling and texting me once a day (or so). If I did not answer her contacts, she is getting very upset and sends me irritating messages (like blaming me that I can’t be trusted in serious situations). If I answer her because I assume that there was a really serious reason that she would call me, but there isn’t. If we talk about weather and general stuff, it is fine. If or conversation goes to us or our past, she gets upset and tries to end the call. Last conversation she hinted me that if I would not call her more occasionally, I would waste my opportunity. She even encouriged to call her any time.

Only once, about 40 days in did we text for more than 5 minutes. She told me our relationship never had the “depth” she was looking for and she had found someone else that supports her in ways I didn’t. She said she was sorry for dragging me along when she really knew she didn’t want me anymore for a little bit of time.
Peter also switched from “awfulizing” about his work situation from a stance of helpless victim to taking a problem-solving stance. What could he do to find a more positive work situation? He began networking with others in his field, stumbled on a job that sounded far more suitable, applied, and at this point is looking likely to get the position.

You first have to understand if him saying that you’re unable to focus on your career is a legitimate worry he has or if it’s an excuse to end things. That would determine if you should contact him, because if it’s a real concern he has, and you are able to convince him that you can stay focused and still be with him, then you should try to fix things.
a. Learning from the affair: Peter wrote out the series of misteps that he had allowed himself to take down the road to sexual betrayal. He listed what had motivated each step — and also what would have been far better options for responding to his concerns at each point in the pathway. He identified the specific situational, thoughts and feeling cues that triggered each step, and the alternative action he would take in the future in response to each cue.
So my ex broke up with me because I mentioned loving someone and they broke my heart I know I shouldn’t of did that but he got mad and he said that someone liked him and before I hung up he sounded like he was cheering I kinda don’t want to get back together him him but I do still have him so much and it’s been hard he actually was a first boyfriend. Lately he seems upset I want him to be happy but I don’t know what to do and I ride the bus with him he’s going to high school next year. The funny thing is my whole family just started liking him now I have to tell them I broke up with him.
As they talked Peter often felt tempted to say, “and you do it too!” He successfully refrained. He had learned that his job was to look at what he could change, not to criticize or advise his wife. That change proved to be one of the most potent signs to his wife that Peter was in fact behaving far more appealingly.
3. Go out with friends. Spend time with your loved ones. Your friends and family are the people who are always there for you and who always love to spend time with you. Go out and have a good time with them.
I would like to ask you if you could help me out with a piece of advise about how could I rebuild attraction without him realizing what I am doing? He knows my tricks and methods, so I would need new ones but don’t have a clue what should I do to charm him but still be myself. I would like to build up at least a little bit of attraction till March, as I will be in his town for a week, and I know that that week will be decisive in what will happen next. Could you please give me some examples or a direction how should I approach him in a romantic way without scaring him?
A lot of times this can be happening but you won’t have any clue. Men aren’t the best communicators especially when it comes to breaking bad news. The last thing they want is to hurt you so they will just break up with you and give you some general reason. Luckily again this can be addressed!
